Take Me To The River
Take me to the river bank so I may drown my sins,
Take me to the furnace so I may burn away my imperfections.
I’ll follow you to places that only you know,
I’ll do everything for you, so long as you remain.
But I see a spark dancing in your eye,
I see a lie seeping through your skin.
Why must you conquer that which is not yours?
Why must you harm me whilst I’m standing on these thorns?
I may be weak, but my eyes tell truths,
Truths of the horrors that you pushed me through.
It’s your turn to dive into that flowing stream,
But why must you refuse to face the flame?
